Sidemount is an increasingly popular way to configure multiple cylinders for technical diving. You can enter the world of tec diving with the Tec Sidemount Diver course and apply what you learn to other TecRec courses.

 

Minimum age required 18
You have to be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Minimum of 30 logged dives
It’s recommended that you also have a PADI Enriched Air Diver certification.

Note: Qualifying certifications from other diver training organizations may apply – ask your Tec Sidemount Instructor.

Duration:
Minimum 4 days

Logistics:
2 shore dives
3 boat dives

 

You’ll learn about the advantages of diving with a sidemount configuration and how to set up a tec sidemount harness. You’ll get hands-on training during one confined water session and four open water dives where you’ll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six sidemounted cylinders.

Basic scuba equipment:

  • Twin-set (side-mounted)
  • Wings & harness *
  • Double regulators
  • Dry suit with pockets or pouch*
  • Fins, mask and back-up mask
  • Weights
  • Compass
  • Primary torch and back-up torch(es)
  • Cutting device(s)
  • Bolt snaps
  • Slate
  • Surface marker buoy*
  • Spool(s)
  • Bottom timer device + dive planning tables and dive computer

*At least one redundant buoyancy compensator is mandatory, such as lift bag, dry suit or double bladed wings.

 

Special equipment:

  • 1 or 2 Stage cylinders

 

 

Bottom tanks and weights are included in the price, all the rest of the equipment can be rent at the dive center with a 30% off.
